Lorraine
Uniquely bordering three countries, a largely
hilly, forested area has natural lakes, criss-
crossed by three major rivers and borders
the Vosges mountains to the east. A warm
summer climate gives way to cold winters and
food production concentrates on beef and dairy
with wheat, barley and rapeseed as important crops. The gastronomy is world renowned but less well known delicacies await discovery. Wine production is small compared to tinier neighbour Alsace but beer production remains vibrant.
